Stuffed Animal

Materials:
Approximately 50 grams worsted weight yarn in 2 colors
Size 7 straight and double-pointed needles

Finished scarf size:
approximately 11” long x 6.5” wide

Instructions:

Legs (make 2)
Using double pointed needles and first color, cast on 4 stitches.  Knit 1 row.
Kfb, knit to last stitch, Kfb – 6 stitches
Knit 3 rows
Kfb, knit to last stitch, Kfb – 8 stitches
Knit 3 rows

Change to second color and begin I-cord.  Knit I-cord for approximately 4 inches.  Cut yarn and place on a holder.

Body: 
Using straight needles and backward loop method, cast on 8 stitches.  Knit across 8 stitches from one leg.  Backward loop cast-on 4 stitches.  Knit across 8 stitches from second leg.  Backward loop cast-on 8 stitches – 36 stitches.

Purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Next Row:  knit 1 stitch, Kfb, Kfb, knit 10 stitches, Kfb, knit 9 stitches, Kfb, knit 9 stitches, Kfb, Kfb, knit 1 stitch – 42 stitches.
Purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Next Row:  knit 1 stitch, Kfb, Kfb, knit 12 stitches, Kfb, knit 11 stitches, Kfb, knit 11 stitches, Kfb, Kfb, knit 1 stitch – 48 stitches.

Continue in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) until 4” inches from beginning of body, ending having worked a purl row.
Next Row:  knit 1 stitch, SSK, SSK, knit 11 stitches, SSK, knit 11 stitches, K2tog, knit 12 stitches, K2tog, K2tog, knit 1 stitch – 42 stitches.
Purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Next Row:  knit 1 stitch, SSK, SSK, knit 9 stitches, SSK, knit 9 stitches, K2tog, knit 10 stitches, K2tog, K2tog, knit 1 stitch – 36 stitches.
Purl 1 row, knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Cast off all stitches knitwise.

Fold outside edges into thirds so they meet along center back.  Pin in place and sew top and bottom.  Stuff and finish sewing center back seam.

Arms:  (make 2)
Cast on 8 stitches and knit icord for ¾ inch.
Next row: K2tog across row – 4 stitches.
Continue working 4-stitch icord for approximately 4”.  Cut yarn, thread through 4 stitches and sew to sides of body.
